- Abstract: Here, we show that, although quantum fidelity can truly identify two quantum
phase transitions of a one-dimensional spin-1/2 quantum Ising model with
competing nearest and next-nearest neighbour interactions in a transverse
magnetic field, it may not be a suitable approach for analyzing its
ground-state phase diagram.

- Quantum phase transition in a quantum Rabi square with next-nearest-neighbor hopping [9.457884028844415]
We propose a quantum Rabi square model where the nearest-neighbor and the next-nearest-neighbor photon hopping are allowed among four quantum Rabi systems.
By tuning the next-nearest hopping strength, we realize a first-order phase transition between the antiferromagnetic superradiant phase and the frustrated superradiant phase.
Our findings suggest that the next-nearest-neighbor hopping can serve as an alternative for the gauge phase to realize quantum control in applications of quantum simulation and quantum materials.

Long-range couplings in the Kitaev chain is shown to modify the universal scaling of topological states close to the critical point.
