- Abstract: In the last few years, there has been increasing interest in quantum
processes with indefinite causal order. Process matrices are a convenient
framework to study such processes. Ref. [1] defines higher order
transformations from process matrices to process matrices and shows that no
continuous and reversible transformation can change the causal order of a
process matrix. Ref. [2] argues, based on a set of examples, that there are
situations where a process can change its causal order over time. Ref. [2]
claims that the formalism of higher order transformations is not general enough
to capture its examples. Here we show that this claim is incorrect. Moreover, a
crucial example of Ref. [2] has already been explicitly considered in Ref. [1]
and shown to be compatible with its results.

We formalise the idea that quantum evolutions can be represented with respect to different subsystem decompositions.
We show that the causal perspectives that one can associate to the different parties in the quantum switch, cannot be related by a change of subsystem decomposition.

Practically relevant problems of quadratic optimization often contain multidimensional arrays of variables interconnected by linear constraints.
The paper identifies and considers three main transformations of the original problem statement.

We study the setting in which the oracle allows for quantum queries to both the forward and inverse direction of the permutation.
We prove several theorems connecting the hardness of the resulting variations of the inversion problem.
Our results indicate that, perhaps surprisingly, the inversion problem does not become significantly easier when the adversary is granted oracle access to the inverse.

We show that using an entangled catalyst cannot enhance the singlet distillation rate of a distillable quantum state.

The concept of space-evolution (or space-time duality) has emerged as a promising approach for studying quantum dynamics.
We show that temporal entanglement always follows a volume law in time.
This unexpected structure in the temporal entanglement spectrum might be the key to an efficient computational implementation of the space evolution.

Page-Wootters formalism associates to time a Hilbert space structure similar to spatial position.
By explicitly introducing a quantum clock, it allows to describe time-evolution of systems via correlations between this clock and said systems encoded in history states.
We describe how to extract process matrices from scenarios involving such agents with quantum clocks, and analyze their properties.
