- Abstract: The simplest model of a single-emitter laser generating in the regime of
small number of photons in the cavity is theoretically investigated. Based on a
system of equations for different moments of the field operators the analytical
expressions for mean number of photons and its dispersion are obtained. Using
the master equation approach the differential equation for the phase-averaged
quasi-probability Q is derived. For some limiting cases the exact solutions of
this equation are found.

We derive an analytical formula for the gradients in quantum circuits with respect to phaseshifters via a generalized parameter shift rule.
We propose two strategies through which one can reduce the number of shifts in the expression, and hence reduce the overall sample complexity.
Numerically, we show that this generalized parameter-shift rule can converge to the minimum of a cost function with fewer parameter update steps than alternative techniques.

We design a passive conditional gate between co-propagating photons using an array of only two-level emitters.
The key resource is to harness the effective photon-photon interaction induced by the chiral coupling of the emitter array to two waveguide modes.
We show how to harness this non-linear phase shift to engineer a conditional, deterministic photonic gate in different qubit encodings.

We propose a hybrid quantum-classical algorithm for solving the Schr"odinger equation for atomic and molecular collisions.
The algorithm is based on the $S$-matrix version of the Kohn variational principle, which computes the fundamental scattering $S$-matrix.
We show how the algorithm could be scaled up to simulate collisions of large polyatomic molecules.

of the population inversion: transition to lasing in the class-B limit [62.997667081978825]
No class-B quantum density-matrix model is available to date, capable of accurately describing coherence and photon correlations within a unified theory.
Here we carry out a density-matrix theoretical approach for generic class-B lasers, and provide closed equations for the photonic and atomic reduced density matrix in the Fock basis of photons.
This model enables the study of few-photon bifurcations and non-classical photon correlations in class-B laser devices, also leveraging quantum descriptions of coherently coupled nanolaser arrays.
