- Title: Strong dispersion property for the quantum walk on the hypercube
- Abstract summary: We show that the discrete time quantum walk on the Boolean hypercube of dimension $n$ has a strong dispersion property.
This improves over the known mixing results for this quantum walk which show that the probability distribution after $O(n)$ steps is close to uniform.

- Abstract: We show that the discrete time quantum walk on the Boolean hypercube of
dimension $n$ has a strong dispersion property: if the walk is started in one
vertex, then the probability of the walker being at any particular vertex after
$O(n)$ steps is of an order $O(1.4818^{-n})$. This improves over the known
mixing results for this quantum walk which show that the probability
distribution after $O(n)$ steps is close to uniform but do not show that the
probability is small for every vertex. A rigorous proof of this result involves
an intricate argument about analytic properties of Bessel functions.

We present the analysis of the quantum two-port interferometer in the $n rightarrow infty$ limit of $n$ partially indistinguishable photons.
Our main result is that the output distribution is dominated by the $O(sqrtn)$ channels around a certain $j*$ that depends on the degree of indistinguishability.
The form is essentially the doubly-humped semi-classical envelope of the distribution that would arise from $2 j*$ indistinguishable photons, and which reproduces the corresponding classical intensity distribution.

Mixing through walks is the process for a Markov chain to approximate a stationary distribution for a group.
Quantum walks have shown potential advantages in mixing time over the classical case but lack general proof in the finite group case.
This work has potential applications in algorithms for sampling non-abelian groups, graph isomorphism tests, etc.

The pretty good transmission scenario implies that the probability of sending one excitation from one extreme of a spin chain to the other can reach values arbitrarily close to the unity just by waiting a time long enough.
Some works suggest that the time $t_varepsilon$ at which the pretty good transmission takes place scales as $1/(|varepsilon|)f(N)$.
We show that the exponent is not a simple function of the chain length but a power law of the number of linearly independent irrational eigenvalues of the one-excitation block of the Hamiltonian

For local noise that is sufficiently weak and unital, correlations (measured by the linear cross-entropy benchmark) between the output distribution $p_textnoisy$ of a generic noisy circuit instance shrink exponentially.
