- Title: Klein-Gordon oscillators, RQM and quantum time
- Authors: Alexander D. Popov,
- Abstract summary: We show that turning on the interaction of relativistic spinless particles with the vacuum of relativistic quantum mechanics (RQM) leads to the replacement of the Klein-Gordon equation with the Klein-Gordon equation.
In this case, coordinate time becomes an operator and free relativistic particles go into a virtual state.

- Abstract: We show that turning on the interaction of relativistic spinless particles with the vacuum of relativistic quantum mechanics (RQM) leads to the replacement of the Klein-Gordon equation with the Klein-Gordon oscillator equation. In this case, coordinate time becomes an operator and free relativistic particles go into a virtual state. We discuss geometry associated with classical and quantum Klein-Gordon oscillators, and its relation to the geometry underlying the description of free particles.

The free expansion of a Gaussian wavepacket is a problem commonly discussed in undergraduate quantum classes.
We provide an alternative way to calculate the free expansion by recognizing that the Gaussian wavepacket can be thought of as the ground state of a harmonic oscillator.
As quantum instruction evolves to include more quantum information science applications, reworking this well known problem using a squeezing formalism will help students develop intuition for how squeezed states are used in quantum sensing.
