- Abstract: We introduce a polarization agnostic method for Gaussian-modulated coherent state (GCMS) continuous-variable quantum key distribution (CVQKD). Due to the random and continuous nature of the GCMS protocol, Alice, the transmitter, can encode two distinct quadratures in each of two orthogonal polarization modes, such that Bob, the receiver, measures valid GCMS quadratures in a single polarization mode even when polarization changes occur during transmission. This method does not require polarization correction in the optical domain, does not require monitoring both polarization modes, reduces loss by eliminating optical components, and avoids the noise injected by polarization correction algorithms.

We present a new scheme that allows for using polarization encoding in a fiber not only in the discrete, but also in the continuous-variable regime.
For the example of a helically twisted photonic-crystal fibre, we experimentally demonstrate that using appropriate nonorthogonal modes, the polarization-preserving fiber does not fully scramble these modes over the full Poincar'e sphere.
This will allow for more efficient measurements of quantum excitations in nonorthogonal modes.

in a bosonic mode assisted by an ancillary qubit [50.591267188664666]
Bosonic quantum error correcting codes are primarily designed to protect against single-photon loss.
Error correction requires a recovery operation that maps the error states -- which have opposite parity -- back onto the code states.
Here, we realize a collection of photon-number-selective, simultaneous photon addition operations on a bosonic mode.
