- Title: A majorization relation for a sum of two tensor products of positive semidefinite operators
- Abstract summary: We prove a separable version of Ky Fan's majorization relation for a sum of two operators that are each a tensor product of $n$ positive semidefinite operators.<n>We show that such a relation does not hold in general for sums of three or more tensor products of three or more positive semidefinite operators.

- Abstract: We use linear programming to prove a separable version of Ky Fan's majorization relation for a sum of two operators that are each a tensor product of $n$ positive semidefinite operators. We give an example showing that such a relation does not hold in general for sums of three or more tensor products of three or more positive semidefinite operators.

We show a generalization of the quantum volume operator quantifying the volume in curved three-dimensional discrete geometries.
In both cases, we obtain a volume operator that is Hermitian, provided that the input category is unitary.
As an illustrative example, we consider the case of $mathrmSU(2)_k$ and show that the standard $mathrmSU(2)$ volume operator is recovered in the limit $krightarrowinfty$

Introduction [0.0]
A tensor product operator on a pair of Hilbert spaces is a maximally general bilinear operator into a target Hilbert space.
