- Abstract: The structural versatility of light underpins an outstanding collection of
optical phenomena where both geometrical and topological states of light can
dictate how matter will respond or display. Light possesses multiple degrees of
freedom such as amplitude, and linear, spin angular, and orbital angular
momenta, but the ability to adaptively engineer the spatio-temporal
distribution of all these characteristics is primarily curtailed by
technologies used to impose any desired structure to light. We describe a
foundational demonstration that examines a laser architecture offering
integrated spatio-temporal field control and programmability, thereby
presenting unique opportunities for generating light by design to exploit its
topology.

We further leverage this connection to discuss and experimentally generate light possessing all possible polarization states across its-spectral shape.

Electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) is a phenomenon that can provide strong and robust interfacing between optical signals and quantum coherence of electronic spins.
We show that EIT can be established with high visibility also in this material platform upon careful design of the measurement geometry.
Our work provides an understanding of EIT in multi-level systems with significant inhomogeneities, and our considerations are valid for a wide array of defects in semiconductors.

We propose a spatial-angular attention network to perceive correspondences in the light field non-locally.
Motivated by the non-local attention mechanism, a spatial-angular attention module is introduced to compute the responses from all the positions in the epipolar plane for each pixel in the light field.
We then propose a multi-scale reconstruction structure to efficiently implement the non-local attention in the low spatial scale.

Entanglement in high-dimensional quantum systems, where one or more degrees of freedom of light are involved, offers increased information capacities and enables new quantum protocols.
Here, we demonstrate a functional source of high-dimensional, noise-resilient hyperentangled states encoded in time-frequency and vector-vortex structured modes.
We generate highly entangled photon pairs at telecom wavelength that we characterise via two-photon interference and quantum state tomography, achieving near-unity visibilities and fidelities.
