- Abstract summary: We study an extended central spin model with an isotropic nearest-neighbour spin-exchange interaction among the bath spins.
We find that if the couplings among the bath spins are antiferromagnetic, the central spin has good coherence and polarization at low temperatures.
A dephasing phenomenon is identified when the initial state of the central spin is unpolarized.

- Abstract: We study an extended central spin model with an isotropic nearest-neighbour
spin-exchange interaction among the bath spins. The system is controllable by
external magnetic fields applied on the central spin and the bath,
respectively. We construct a basis set of the Hilbert space and express the
Hamiltonian of the extended model into a series of $2\times2$ block matrices to
obtain the exact solution of the model successfully. Therefrom, the coherence
and the spin polarization of the central spin are investigated. We find that if
the couplings among the bath spins are antiferromagnetic, the central spin has
good coherence and polarization at low temperatures. Moreover, the decoherence
is greatly suppressed at the critical point where the strengthes of the central
and the bath magnetic field take the same value. A dephasing phenomenon is
identified when the initial state of the central spin is unpolarized.

The XX central spin model is integrable in the presence of a magnetic field oriented to the XY plane in which the coupling exists.
In the spin-1/2 case, it was also shown, through an appropriate limit of the non-skew symmetric XXZ Richardson-Gaudin models, that it remained integrable even when the magnetic field is tilted to contain an in-plane component.

The active driving of the electron spin of a color center is known as a method for the hyperpolarization of the surrounding nuclear spin bath.
Here, we investigate the efficiency of this approach for various spin coupling schemes in a one-dimensional Heisenberg chain coupled to a central spin.
Our results suggest that a high degree of hyperpolarization in the boron and nitrogen nuclear spin lattices is achievable even starting from a fully thermal bath.

In general, the quantum phase transition (QPT) is supposed to occur only in the thermodynamical limit.
We present that the central spin model exhibits a normal-to-superradiant phase transition in the limit.
This work builds a novel connection between the qubit-spin systems and the qubit-field systems, which provides a possibility for the realization of criticality-enhanced quantum sensing in central spin systems.

We study the dynamics of a generalized Heisenberg star consisting of a spin-$S$ central spin and an inhomogeneously coupled XXZ chain of 16$ bath spins.
By preparing the XXZ bath in a N'eel state, we find that in the gapless phase of the bath even weak system-bath coupling could lead to nearly perfect relaxation of the antiferromagnetic order.
