- Abstract: An optical method for precise purification of chemical elements is introduced
in this paper. The materials are supposed to be in the states of gaseous beams,
which are coherently coupled to an external traveling light during
purification. Before decoherence occurs, atoms periodically move in the light
with different speeds that depends on masses and optical transition wave
lengths of these atoms. The speed gradient leads to deflections of different
atoms in different directions. The model is described by Schr\"{o}dinger
equations with analytical results. This method could be used for some hardly
separable atoms and isotopes depending on the condition of atom coherent time.
The present work opens a platform for applications of cold atom technology in
the purification of atoms and molecules.

We identify a controllable and scalable catalyst that allows metrologically useful entangled states to be generated at a high rate.
The time scale of entanglement formation can be much shorter than for bare atom-atom interactions, effectively eliminating the decoherence due to photon losses.
Our protocol may find applications in future quantum sensors or other systems where controllable and scalable many-body entanglement is desired.

We show that in the inelastic collision of a photon and an atom, the twisted state of the photon is transferred to the center-of-mass state.
We also show that, depending on the experimental conditions, the twistedness of the photon is either transferred to the atomic center-of-mass quantum state or modifies the selection rule for the bound electron transition.

We develop and study an atom-only description of the Dicke model with time-periodic couplings between atoms and a dissipative cavity mode.
The cavity mode is eliminated giving rise to effective atom-atom interactions and dissipation.
We show that the atom-only theory can describe the relaxation into such a dissipative time crystal and that the damping rate can be understood in terms of a cooling mechanism.
