- Abstract: In this article, we propose a method to realize the "delayed choice
experiment" using ultra-cold atoms. Here we attempt to probe the "welcher-Weg"
information without collapsing the wavefunction of the atom. This experiment
consists of components built around proven techniques that are put together in
novel configuration to preserve the coherence of the system during the
measurement. The Ramsey interference is used to establish the wave nature of
the atom and the particle nature of the atom is probed by detecting its
internal state by performing a nondemolition measurement using an ultra-high
finesse cavity. The coherence of the atom is preserved by adjusting the
atom-cavity interaction time such that the state of the atom is unchanged when
it emerges out of the cavity.

We develop and study an atom-only description of the Dicke model with time-periodic couplings between atoms and a dissipative cavity mode.
The cavity mode is eliminated giving rise to effective atom-atom interactions and dissipation.
We show that the atom-only theory can describe the relaxation into such a dissipative time crystal and that the damping rate can be understood in terms of a cooling mechanism.

In atom interferometry, the non-classical state is a spatial superposition, where each atom coexists in multiple locations.
In atom interferometers, the available interrogation time is limited to around 3 seconds for a 10 m fountain.
Here, we realise an atom interferometer with a spatial superposition state that is maintained for as long as 70 seconds.

The entanglement harvesting protocol is an operational way to probe vacuum entanglement.
Using this protocol, it is demonstrated that while the transition probability of an individual atom is unaffected by the presence of a gravitational wave, the entanglement harvested by two atoms depends sensitively on the frequency of the gravitational wave.
This suggests that the entanglement signature left by a gravitational wave may be useful in characterizing its properties, and potentially useful in exploring the gravitational-wave memory effect and gravitational-wave induced decoherence.
