- Abstract: We study the impact of saturable nonlinearity on the presence and location of exceptional points in a non-Hermitian dimer system. The inclusion of the saturable nonlinearity leads to the emergence of multiple eigenvalues, exceeding the typical two found in the linear counterpart. To identify the exceptional points, we calculate the nonlinear eigenvalues both from a polynomial equation for the defined population imbalance and through a fully numerical method. Our results reveal that exceptional points can be precisely located by adjusting the non-equal saturable nonlinearities in the detuning space.

We address characterization of lossy and dephasing channels in the presence of self-Kerr interaction using coherent probes.
For lossy Kerr channels, our results show the loss characterization is enhanced in the presence of Kerr nonlinearity.
For dephasing Kerr channels, the QFIs of the two parameters are independent of the nonlinearity, and therefore no enhancement is observed.

Non-linear activation functions, e.g., Sigmoid, ReLU, and Tanh, have achieved great success in neural networks (NNs)
Due to the complex non-linear characteristic of samples, the objective of those activation functions is to project samples from their original feature space to a linear separable feature space.
This phenomenon ignites our interest in exploring whether all features need to be transformed by all non-linear functions in current typical NNs.
