- Abstract: Dynamics, the physical change in time and a pillar of natural sciences, can be regarded as an emergent phenomenon when the system of interest is part of a larger, static one. This "relational approach to time", in which the system's environment provides a temporal reference, does not only provide insight into foundational issues of physics, but holds the potential for a deeper theoretical understanding as it intimately links statics and dynamics. Reinforcing the significance of this connection, we demonstrate, based on recent progress [Phys. Rev. Lett. 131, 140202 (2023)], the role of emergent time as a vital link between time-independent and time-dependent perturbation theory in quantum mechanics. We calculate first order contributions, which are often the most significant, and discuss the issue of degenerate spectra. Based on our results, we envision future applications for the calculation of dynamical phenomena based on a single pure energy eigenstate.

We study how the quantum dynamics transforms into a classical-like behaviour when conditions related with macroscopicity are met by the clock alone.
In the description of this emerging behaviour finds its place the classical notion of time, as well as that of phase-space and trajectories on it.

We propose a simple-yet-effective self-supervised regularization term as a soft constraint that aligns the forward and backward trajectories predicted by a continuous graph neural network-based ordinary differential equation (GraphODE)
It effectively imposes time-reversal symmetry to enable more accurate model predictions across a wider range of dynamical systems under classical mechanics.
Experimental results on a variety of physical systems demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed method.

We study the time required to maximally entangle two principal systems interacting under the same energy constraints.
Direct interactions are proved to provide the fastest way to entangle the principal systems, but it turns out that there exist mediated dynamics that are just as fast.
The final message is that correlations save energy: one has to supply extra energy if maximal entanglement across the principal systems is to be obtained as fast as with an initially correlated mediator.

We study the dynamics of the quantum Dyson hierarchical model in its paramagnetic phase.
An initial state made by a local excitation of the paramagnetic ground state is considered.
A localization mechanism is found and the excitation remains close to its initial position at arbitrary times.
