- Abstract: States with negative Wigner function, a significant subclass of non-classical states, serve as a valuable resource for various quantum information processing tasks. Here, we provide a criterion for detecting such quantum states exhibiting negative Wigner function. Our method relies on evaluating moments of the Wigner function which involves computing simple functionals and can be implemented in a real experiment without the need for full state tomography or Wigner function reconstruction. We then provide explicit examples to support our detection scheme. Further, we propose an experimental method utilizing the continuous variable SWAP operator to realize these moments in a real experiment.

In continuous variable (CV) systems, we utilise the Wigner function, which can be measured via displaced parity measurements.
For target states of particular interest, such as Fock and Gaussian states, we find that this sample complexity is characterised by the $L1$-norm of the Wigner function.
In a general black box model, we prove that, for any target state, the optimal sample complexity for fidelity estimation is characterised by the smoothed $L1$-norm of the target state.

Recursive Classification [133.20816939521941]
In the standard Markov decision process formalism, users specify tasks by writing down a reward function.
In many scenarios, the user is unable to describe the task in words or numbers, but can readily provide examples of what the world would look like if the task were solved.
Motivated by this observation, we derive a control algorithm that aims to visit states that have a high probability of leading to successful outcomes, given only examples of successful outcome states.
