- Abstract summary: We consider an inhomogeneous XX spin chain which interpolates between the Krawtchouk one with perfect state transfer and the homogeneous XX chain.
The advantage of this model with respect to the Krawtchouk chain is that while it achieves efficient state transfer, the coupling strengths are capped and do not become excessively large as the number of sites grows.

- Abstract: We consider an inhomogeneous XX spin chain which interpolates between the Krawtchouk one with perfect state transfer and the homogeneous XX chain. This model can be exploited in order to perform state transfer of a qubit with sufficiently good fidelity. The advantage of this model with respect to the Krawtchouk chain is that while it achieves efficient state transfer, the coupling strengths are capped and do not become excessively large as the number of sites grows.

In a continuous-time quantum walk on a network of qubits, pretty good state transfer is the phenomenon of state transfer between two vertices with fidelity arbitrarily close to 1.
We construct families of graphs to demonstrate that there is no bound on the size of a set of vertices that admit pretty good state transfer between any two vertices of the set.

We study an open Heisenberg XXZ spin chain with long-range Ising-type interaction.
We find that the chain lengths for this transition are increasing with decreasing range of the Ising-type interactions between distant spins.
The transition can be explained by the suppression of ferromagnetic domains at the edges of the chain.
