- Abstract: Do black holes possess entropy or do they create it? The dominant assumption is that they possess entropy, and a they evaporate that entropy is emitted and decreases. In this paper I use a model of a linear amplifier, in which I argue that the amplifier has not entropy and yet it emits entropy in the process of it operation. This model is closely related to behaviour of black holes, resulting in answer the question of that title that black holes do not have entropy, but nevertheless them create and emit entropy with the total entropy emitted being the same as the usual expression proportional to the square of the mas of the black hole.

How do noncommuting charges affect thermodynamic phenomena?
Charges' noncommutation has been found to invalidate derivations of the thermal state's form.
Evidence suggests that noncommuting charges may hinder thermalization in some ways while enhancing thermalization in others.

Since Hawking's 1974 discovery, we expect that a black hole formed by collapse will emit radiation and eventually disappear.
We suggest physical entropy should be identified with matter-gravity entanglement entropy.
More work is needed to find out if it is indeed so.

We show that throughout the flow one can split the quantum field contribution to the entropy into a part coming from the entanglement between field degrees of freedom inside and outside the horizon.

We explore the possibility that theories with negative kinetic energy (ghosts) can be meta-stable up to cosmologically long times.
In classical mechanics, ghosts undergo spontaneous lockdown rather than run-away if weakly-coupled and non-resonant.
In quantum mechanics this leads to meta-stability similar to vacuum decay.

entropy of Hawking radiation is approximately equal to the maximum of entanglement entropy if a black hole is in a state before the Page time.
If there exists a process generating smaller entanglements rather than maximal entanglements, the entropy of Hawking radiation will become smaller.
