- Abstract: In the space $\mathbb R^3$, for Robin parameter $L>0$, it is shown that there is a family of Schrödinger operators with penetrable toroidal solenoid and variable conductivity that approximates the magnetic Aharonov-Bohm operator with a Robin boundary condition at the solenoid (border). It is also shown that approximations via smooth potentials and then a barrier in the solenoid interior give Dirichlet boundary conditions. The approximations are in the strong resolvent sense and obtained through the $Γ$-convergence technique, and they hold for the more general setting of smooth, closed and compact surfaces and continuous and bounded magnetic potentials.

The nonequilibrium Fokker-Planck dynamics with a non-conservative drift field, in dimension $Ngeq 2$, can be related with the non-Hermitian quantum mechanics in a real scalar potential $V$ and in a purely imaginary vector potential -$iA$ of real amplitude $A$.
Since Fokker-Planck probability density functions may be obtained by means of Feynman's path integrals, the previous observation points towards a general issue of "magnetically affine" propagators.

Quantum materials that host a flat band, such as pseudospin-1 lattices and magic-angle twisted bilayer graphene, can exhibit drastically new physical phenomena.
We report a surprising class of electronic in-gap edge states in pseudospin-1 materials.
In particular, we find that, in two-dimensional gapped (insulating) Dirac systems of massive spin-1 quasiparticles, in-gap edge modes can emerge through only an em electrostatic potential applied to a finite domain.
