- Abstract: We introduce a model that explains the phenomenon of correlation-assisted
tunneling and puts it in a broader context. This model assumes the existence of
an effective force of pure quantum nature between nearby fragments of
correlated matter that results due to interference effects. The magnitude of
this force depends on the amount of coherence between different locations; it
attains a maximum value for fragments in a perfect superfluid state and
disappears entirely when the fragments are in the Mott Insulator state. The
force can also be explained in terms of the Bohmian quantum potential. We
illustrate the implications of this force on the transport of cold atoms
through simple potential structures, the triple-well harmonic trap and optical
lattices.

- The effect of quantum decoherence on inflationary gravitational waves [0.0]
Theory of inflation provides mechanism to explain structures we observe today in the Universe, starting from quantum-mechanically generated fluctuations.
During inflation, tensor perturbations interact (at least gravitationally) with other fields, meaning that we need to view these perturbations as an open system that interacts with an environment.
We show that this quantum decoherence leads to a scale-dependent increase of the gravitational wave power spectrum, depending on the strength and time dependence of the interaction between the system and the environment.

Boundary effect is a widespread idea in many-body theories, but it is more of a conceptual notion than a rigorously defined physical quantity.
Here, we analyze the quantity, which we call a boundary effect function, for an XXZ spin-1/2 model using density matrix renormalization group calculations.

Quantum correlations between distant particles remain enigmatic since the birth of quantum mechanics.
We predict a novel kind of bound quantum state in the simplest one-dimensional setup of two interacting particles in a box.
Such states could be realized in the waveguide quantum electrodynamics platform.
