- Abstract: The Casimir interaction energy for a class of discrete self-similar
configuration of parallel plates is evaluated using existing methods. The
similarities to characteristics of an attractive Casimir force is deduced only
at infinite range of configuration. Further, the emergence of Casimir-like
energy is qualitatively described for a Gaussian model of Landau-Ginzburg
scalar field. Its relevance to self-similarity in the statistical field is
shown at infinite range of fluctuations.

- Derivation of Casimir Effect without Zeta-Regularization [0.0]
The Casimir effect describes the attractive force arising due to quantum fluctuations of the vacuum electromagnetic field between closely spaced plates.
Traditionally, zeta-regularization is employed in calculations to address infinities that emerge during the derivation.
This paper presents a novel derivation of the Casimir effect that circumvents the need for zeta-regularization.

Unavoidable coupling of quantum systems to external degrees of freedom leads to dissipative (non-unitary) dynamics.
We introduce a method to deal with these systems based on the calculation of (dissipative) lattice Green's function.
We illustrate the power of this method with several examples of driven-dissipative bosonic chains of increasing complexity.

We study a coupled system that describes the interacting dynamics between a bulk field, confined to a finite region with timelike boundary, and a boundary observable.
We cast our classical system in the form of an abstract linear Klein-Gordon equation, in an enlarged Hilbert space for the bulk field and the boundary observable.
Specifically, we compute the renormalized local state polarization and the local Casimir energy, which we can define for both the bulk field and the boundary observable of our system.
