- Abstract: We find necessary and sufficient conditions to determine the
inter-convertibility of quantum systems under time-translation covariant
evolution, and use it to solve several problems in quantum thermodynamics both
in the single-shot and asymptotic regimes. It is well known that the resource
theory of quantum athermality is not reversible, but in PRL 111, 250404 (2013)
it was claimed that the theory becomes reversible ``provided a sublinear amount
of coherent superposition over energy levels is available". Here we show that
if a sublinear amount of coherence among energy levels were considered free,
then the resource theory of athermality would become trivial. Instead, we show
that by considering a sublinear amount of energy to be free, the theory of
athermality becomes reversible for the pure-state case. A proof of the same
claim for the mixed-state case is still lacking.

The relation between thermodynamic and the quantum theory has been fertile, deeply explored and still a source of new investigations.
I discuss how such construction requires a relational take on thermodynamics, similarly of what happens in the quantum theory and in gravity.

Quantum thermalization describes how closed quantum systems can effectively reach thermal equilibrium.
Despite its ubiquity and conceptual significance, a complete proof of quantum thermalization has remained elusive for several decades.
We prove that quantum thermalization must occur in any qubit system with local interactions satisfying three conditions.

A fundamental question in quantum information theory is whether an analogous second law can be formulated to characterize the convertibility of resources for quantum information processing by a single function.
In 2008, a promising formulation was proposed, linking resource convertibility to the optimal performance of a variant of the quantum version of hypothesis testing.
In 2023, a logical gap was found in the original proof of this lemma, casting doubt on the possibility of such a formulation of the second law.

For classic systems, the fluctuations of a current have a lower bound in terms of the entropy production.
We generalize this idea for quantum systems, where we find a lower bound for the uncertainty of quantum observables given in terms of the quantum relative entropy.
We apply the result to obtain a quantum thermodynamic uncertainty relation in terms of the quantum entropy production, valid for arbitrary dynamics and non-thermal environments.

Information-Spectrum Approach for Quantum Fisher Information [0.0]
Since energetic coherence is fragile, it is essential to understand the limits in distillation and dilution to restore damage.
In the i.i.d. regime where identical copies of a state are converted into identical copies of another state, it has been shown that the convertibility of energetic coherence is governed by a standard measure of energetic coherence, called the quantum Fisher information (QFI)
Unlike entanglement theory, the conversion theory of energetic coherence in pure states in the non-i.i.d. regime has been an open problem.
