- Abstract: Quantum mechanics of closed, unitary quantum systems can be formulated in
non-Hermitian interaction picture (NIP) in which both the states and the
observables vary with time. Then, in general, not only the
Schr\"{o}dinger-equation generators $G(t)$ but also the Heisenberg-equation
generators $\Sigma(t)$ are phenomenologically irrelevant, with spectra which
are, in general, complex. Only the sum $H(t)=G(t)+\Sigma(t)$ retains the
standard physical meaning of instantaneous energy. For illustration, the
``wrong-sign'' quartic oscillators are recalled and reconsidered.

The concept of it quantum ratio' emerged in the recent efforts to understand how Newton's equations appear for the center of mass of an isolated macroscopic body at finite body-temperatures.
An important notion following from introduction of the quantum ratio is that the elementary particles (thus the electron and the photon) are quantum mechanical, even when the environment-induced decoherence turns them into a mixed state.

unitary quantum mechanics formulated in non-Hermitian (or, more precisely, in hiddenly Hermitian) interaction-picture representation is illustrated via an elementary $N$ by $N$ matrix Hamiltonian $H(t)$ mimicking a 1D-box system with physics controlled by time-dependent boundary conditions.
Our key message is that contrary to the conventional beliefs and in spite of the unitarity of the evolution of the system, neither its "Heisenbergian Hamiltonian" $Sigma(t)$ nor its "Schr"odingerian Hamiltonian" $G(

The other, false'' Hamiltonian $G(t)$ generates the time-evolution of wave functions.

How the property of quantum many-body system especially the phase transition will be affected by the non-hermiticity remains unclear.
We show that there is a continuous phase transition induced by the non-hermiticity in QCP.
We observe that the order parameter and susceptibility display infinitely even for finite size system, since non-hermiticity endows universality many-body system with different singular behaviour from classical phase transition.

We simulate a Heisenberg evolution using laser-induced entangling interactions and collective spin rotations.
We find that small subsystems equilibrate to near a recently predicted non-Abelian thermal state.

A non-Hermitian operator $H$ defined in a Hilbert space with inner product $langlecdot|cdotrangle$ may serve as the Hamiltonian for a unitary quantum system.
Such quantum systems, which are also encountered in the study of quantum mechanics in cosmological backgrounds, suffer from a conflict between the unitarity of time evolution and the unobservability of the Hamiltonian.

A general attenuator $Phi_lambda, sigma$ is a bosonic quantum channel that acts by combining the input with a fixed environment state.
We show that for any arbitrary value of $lambda>0$ there exists a suitable single-mode state $sigma(lambda)$.
Our result holds even when we fix an energy constraint at the input of the channel, and implies that quantum communication at a constant rate is possible even in the limit of arbitrarily low transmissivity.
