- Abstract summary: In this study, we investigate the decoherence of a spatially superposed electrically neutral spin-$frac12$ particle in the presence of a quantum electromagnetic field in Minkowski spacetime.
We demonstrate that decoherence due to the spin-magnetic field coupling can be categorized into two distinct factors: local decoherence, originating from the two-point correlation functions along each branch of the superposed trajectories, and nonlocal decoherence, which arises from the correlation functions between the two superposed trajectories.

- Abstract: In this study, we investigate the decoherence of a spatially superposed electrically neutral spin-$\frac12$ particle in the presence of a relativistic quantum electromagnetic field in Minkowski spacetime. These effects are linked to phase damping and amplitude damping. We also show that if the quantum field is prepared in a thermal state, decoherence monotonically increases with the field temperature.

We study the dynamics of a harmonically oscillating charged Brownian particle coupled to an Ohmic heat bath via both position and momentum couplings.
The presence of both position and momentum couplings leads to a stronger interaction with the environment, resulting in a faster loss of coherence.
In addition, the magnetic field results in the slowing down of the loss of information from the system, irrespective of the nature of coupling between the system and the bath.

Cosmological particle creation is the phenomenon by which the expansion of spacetime results in the production of particles of a given quantum field in that spacetime.
We study this phenomenon by considering a multi-level quantum particle detector in de Sitter spacetime coupled to a massless real quantum scalar field.
The main novel result is that, due to the quantum nature of the superposition of trajectories, the state of the detector after interaction with the field is not only a mixture of the thermal states that would be expected from each individual static trajectory but rather exhibits additional coherences due to interferences between the different trajectories.

Quasiparticles are emergent excitations of matter that underlie much of our understanding of quantum many-body systems.
We take advantage of the clean setting of homogeneous quantum gases and fast radio-frequency control to manipulate Fermi polarons.
We measure the decay rate and the quasiparticle residue of the driven polaron from the Rabi oscillations between the two internal states.

We report the existence of a sizeable quantum tunnelling splitting between the two lowest electronic spin levels of mononuclear Ni complexes.
The level anti-crossing, or magnetic clock transition, associated with this gap has been directly monitored by heat capacity experiments.
The comparison of these results with those obtained for a Co derivative, for which tunnelling is forbidden by symmetry, shows that the clock transition leads to an effective suppression of intermolecular spin-spin interactions.
