- Abstract: Conservation laws serve as the hallmark of integrability. The absence of conserved charges typically implies that the model is nonintegrable. The recently proposed Fredkin spin chain exhibits rich structures, and its ground state is analytically known. However, whether the Fredkin spin chain is integrable remains an open question. In this work, through rigorous analytical calculations, we demonstrate that the Fredkin spin chain, under both periodic and open boundary conditions, lacks local conserved charges, thereby confirming its nonintegrable nature. Furthermore, we find that when one or a portion of the Hamiltonian terms are removed (referred to as the truncated Fredkin spin chain), local conserved charges are still absent. Our findings suggest that in models involving three-site interactions, integrable models are generally rare.

The XX central spin model is integrable in the presence of a magnetic field oriented to the XY plane in which the coupling exists.
In the spin-1/2 case, it was also shown, through an appropriate limit of the non-skew symmetric XXZ Richardson-Gaudin models, that it remained integrable even when the magnetic field is tilted to contain an in-plane component.

chain [0.0]
Absence of local conserved quantities is often required, such as for thermalization or for the validity of response theory.
Here, we rigorously prove that, if all coupling constants are nonzero, this model has no conserved quantity spanned by local operators.
Results provide the second example of spin models whose nonintegrability is rigorously proved.

model [40.2428948628001]
This work considers an impurity model -- TFIM perturbed by a boundary integrability breaking interaction.
For sufficiently large transverse field, but in the ordered phase of the TFIM, the zero mode is observed to decay.
A toy model for the decay is constructed in Krylov space and it is highlighted how Fermi's Golden Rule may be recovered from this toy model.

We discuss a sufficient condition for gapless excitations in the Lindbladian master equation for collective spin-boson systems.
We argue that gapless modes can lead to persistent dynamics in the spin observables with the possible formation of dissipative time-crystals.
