- Abstract: Uncertainty is a fundamental and important concept in quantum mechanics. Recent works have revealed both the product and sum forms of uncertainty constants for three observables. Such a result is intimately to the properties of Pauli operators. In this work, using the technique in matrix theory, we give an alternative proof for the case of three observables, and generalize the result to the case of four measurements. Comparing with the original proof, such a derivation is simplified. Moreover, the discussions can deal with the summation form of uncertainty relation for two, three and four observables in a unified way.

and connections to phase-space and Keldysh field theory formulations [77.34726150561087]
We reformulate the technique of third quantization in a way that explicitly connects all three methods.
We first show that our formulation reveals a fundamental dissipative symmetry present in all quadratic bosonic or fermionic Lindbladians.
For bosons, we then show that the Wigner function and the characteristic function can be thought of as ''wavefunctions'' of the density matrix.

A core principle of quantum theory is that non-orthogonal quantum states cannot be perfectly distinguished with single-shot measurements.
Here we implement a quantum state elimination measurement which unambiguously rules out two of four pure, non-orthogonal quantum states.

Quantum mechanics is seen as a normative and algorithmic theory guiding an agent to assess her subjective beliefs represented as (coherent) sets of gambles.
We show how sets of exchangeable observables (gambles) may be updated after a measurement and discuss the issue of defining entanglement for indistinguishable particle systems.
