- Abstract: We study spin and entanglement dynamics in spin-1/2 XXZ chains under periodic monitoring and show that this system exhibits two measurement-induced phase transitions: a steady-state entanglement phase transition similar to those in monitored quantum circuits and a ballistic-to-diffusive transition in transient dynamics. Specifically, we discover that at low monitoring rate, an initial configuration containing a domain wall $|\uparrow\uparrow\uparrow\ldots \downarrow\downarrow\downarrow\ldots\rangle$ spreads ballistically while, at large monitoring rates, the domain melting is diffusive. Extensive numerical simulations, supported by theoretical arguments, indicate that the ballistic-diffusive transition is intimately interlinked with the entanglement phase transition. In contrast to the entanglement phase transitions, which require exponentially complex postselection, the ballistic-diffusive transition can be observed without postselection and constitutes an experimentally accessible manifestation of the many-body Zeno effect.

We find that the monotonic increase of quenched hopping amplitude could flip the system between volume-law and area-law entangled Floquet phases.
Our findings build a foundation for exploring entanglement phase transitions in Floquet non-Hermitian setups.

Phase transitions correspond to the singular behavior of physical systems in response to continuous control parameters like temperature or external fields.
Near continuous phase transitions, associated with the divergence of a correlation length, universal power-law scaling behavior with critical exponents independent of microscopic system details is found.

We show the presence of a topological phase transition that is of a different universality class than that observed in stroboscopic projective circuits.
We find that this entanglement transition is well identified by a combination of the bipartite entanglement entropy and the topological entanglement entropy.

Quantum systems evolving unitarily and subject to quantum measurements exhibit various types of non-equilibrium phase transitions.
Dissipative phase transitions in steady states of time-independent Liouvillians and measurement induced phase transitions are two primary examples.
We show that a dissipative phase transition between a ferromagnetic ordered phase and a paramagnetic disordered phase emerges for long-range systems.

We analyze the quantum trajectory dynamics of free fermions subject to continuous monitoring.
For weak monitoring, we identify a novel dynamical regime of subextensive entanglement growth.
For strong monitoring, however, the dynamics favors a transition into a quantum Zeno-like area-law regime.

We find that the chain lengths for this transition are increasing with decreasing range of the Ising-type interactions between distant spins.
The transition can be explained by the suppression of ferromagnetic domains at the edges of the chain.
