- Abstract: We derive a necessary condition of the local equivalence between two-qudit gates in terms of singular values of transformed gate matrices. This condition is valid for arbitrary qudit dimensions $d$ and is thus a relatively simple general way of checking whether two gates can be reduced to one another with single-qudit (local) gates. We use this condition to investigate the local equivalence of two widely used trapped-ion two-qubit gates in qudit space: the Molmer-Sorensen (MS) gate and a special case of the Light-Shift (LS) gate, both of which we studied in one of our previous works.

Multi-controlled unitary gates have been a subject of interest in quantum computing since its inception.
Current state-of-the-art approach to implementing n-qubit multi-controlled gates involves the use of a quadratic number of single-qubit and CNOT gates.
We present a new decomposition of n-qubit multi-controlled SU(2) gates that requires a circuit with a number of CNOT gates proportional to 20n.

We study the number of gates needed for the distribution over measurement outcomes for typical circuit instances to be anti-concentrated.
Our definition of anti-concentration is that the expected collision probability is only a constant factor larger than if the distribution were uniform.
In both the case where the gates are nearest-neighbor on a 1D ring and the case where gates are long-range, we show $O(n log(n)) gates are also sufficient.
