- Abstract: Photonic quantum metrology has demonstrated advantages in precision and resource efficiency for a wide range of applications, with several schemes approaching the fundamental quantum Cramér-Rao precision bound (QCRB). However, the intrinsic incompatibility of quantum measurements represents a hurdle in extending these advantages to the simultaneous estimation of multiple parameters. In this paper, we present an experimental protocol approaching the QCRB simultaneously in two polarisation parameters, across a wide range of the parameter space, with as few as $\sim 200$ photon pairs, offering advantages for polarimetric sensing for dim sources such as in X-ray astronomy or photosensitive samples.

We design a passive conditional gate between co-propagating photons using an array of only two-level emitters.
The key resource is to harness the effective photon-photon interaction induced by the chiral coupling of the emitter array to two waveguide modes.

In quantum illumination, various detection schemes have been proposed for harnessing remaining quantum correlations of the entanglement-based resource state.
We investigate the performance of this scheme for realistic detection parameters in terms of detection efficiency, dark count probability, and photon number resolution.
We find that the requirements for photon number resolution in the two mixer outputs are highly asymmetric due to different associated photon number expectation values.
