- Abstract: We consider a particle bound to a two-dimensional plane and a double well
potential, subject to a perpendicular uniform magnetic field . The energy
difference between the lowest two eigenvalues--the eigenvalue splitting--is
related to the tunneling probability between the two wells. We obtain upper and
lower bounds on this splitting in the regime where both the magnetic field
strength and the depth of the wells are large. The main step is a lower bound
on the hopping probability between the wells, a key parameter in tight binding
models of solid state physics.

In this study, we investigate the decoherence of a spatially superposed electrically neutral spin-$frac12$ particle in the presence of a quantum electromagnetic field in Minkowski spacetime.
We demonstrate that decoherence due to the spin-magnetic field coupling can be categorized into two distinct factors: local decoherence, originating from the two-point correlation functions along each branch of the superposed trajectories, and nonlocal decoherence, which arises from the correlation functions between the two superposed trajectories.

Long-range interactions are a key resource in many quantum phenomena and technologies.
We show how to design the polaritonic bands of these atomic metamaterials to feature a pair of frequency-isolated Weyl points.
These Weyl excitations can thus mediate interactions that are simultaneously long-range, due to their gapless nature; robust, due to the topological protection of Weyl points; and decoherence-free, due to their subradiant character.

In the strong electric field limit we derive, under certain local convexity conditions, a three-term expansion of the low-lying eigenvalues.
This shows that the excitation are proportional to the square root of the boundary curvature at a certain point determined by the direction of the electric field.
