- Abstract: The many-worlds interpretation (MWI) of quantum mechanics is studied from an
unprecedented ontological perspective based on the reality of (semi-)
deterministic parallel worlds in the interpretation. It is demonstrated that
with thanks to the uncertainty principle there would be no consistent way to
specify the correct ontology of the Universe, hence the MWI is subject to an
inherent contradiction which claims that the world where we live in is unreal.

The goal of this paper is to provide a perspicuous characterisation of how the multiverse emerges.
This will be cashed out with a case study that identifies decoherence as the mechanism for emergence.

We show that the behavior of a macroscopic system can retain all aspects of the quantum formalism.
This departure from the expected classical description of macroscopic systems is not merely mathematical but also conceptual.

Embezzlement of entanglement refers to the counterintuitive possibility of extracting entangled quantum states from a reference state of an auxiliary system.
We uncover a deep connection between the operational task of embezzling entanglement and the mathematical classification of von Neumann algebras.

We briefly review a number of major features of the approach to quantum measurement theory based on environment-induced decoherence of the measuring apparatus.
We summarize our observations in the form of a couple of general principles that, unlike the wave function collapse hypothesis, emerge as ones consistent with the unitary Schr"odinger evolution of wave functions.

It is argued that the MWI is the only interpretation which removes action at a distance and randomness from quantum theory.
Some speculations about misconceptions, which apparently prevent the MWI to be in the consensus, are mentioned.
