- Abstract: In this paper, we look into what happens to a quantum system under repeated
measurements if it interacts with two independent reservoirs. In particular, we
look at the behavior of a two-level system interacting with reservoirs
consisting of harmonic oscillators. The interaction with one reservoir is weak
with a dissipative-type coupling, while the interaction with the other
reservoir is strong with a dephasing-type coupling. Using a polaron
transformation, we show that the presence of the strongly coupled reservoir can
actually reduce the decay rate of the quantum system due to the effect of the
weakly-coupled reservoir.

In a noisy environment, fluctuations can control efficiency of energy transfer through several factors, including quantum coherence.
Several recent studies have investigated the impact of light-induced stationary quantum coherence on the efficiency of transferring optical excitation to a designated "trap" state, crucial for subsequent reactions such as those in photosynthesis.
We introduce the effects of the decay of excitation (to the ground state) and the desired trapping that provides the direction of the motion of the excitation.
In the presence of light-induced pumping, we establish a relation between the mean survival time, efficiency, and the correlation decay time of the bath-induced fluctuations.

The quantum regression theorem states that the correlations of a system at two different times are governed by the same equations of motion as the temporal response of the average values.
Here we experimentally demonstrate that the two-time particle number correlations in a photon Bose-Einstein condensate inside a dye-filled microcavity exhibit the same dynamics as the response of the condensate to a sudden perturbation of the dye molecule bath.
This confirms the regression theorem for a quantum gas and, moreover, establishes a test of this relation in an unconventional form where the perturbation acts on the bath and only the condensate response is monitored.

Two non-identical quantum emitters, when placed within a cavity and coherently excited at the two-photon resonance, can reach stationary states of nearly maximal entanglement.
We show that this mechanism is merely one among a complex family of phenomena that can generate both stationary and metastable entanglement when driving the emitters at the two-photon resonance.
