- Title: A sharp transition in quantum chaos and thermodynamics of mass deformed
SYK model
- Authors: Tomoki Nosaka
- Abstract summary: We studied the chaotic property of the two coupled Sachdev-Ye-Kitaev systems exhibiting a Hawking-Page like phase transition.
We found that the chaos exponent of this model shows a discontinuous fall-off at the phase transition temperature.
In this model the Hawking-Page like transition is correlated with a transition in chaoticity, as expected from the relation between a black hole geometry and the chaotic behavior in the dual field theory.

- Abstract: We review our recent work [arXiv:2009.10759] where we studied the chaotic
property of the two coupled Sachdev-Ye-Kitaev systems exhibiting a Hawking-Page
like phase transition. By computing the out-of-time-ordered correlator in the
large N limit by using the bilocal field formalism, we found that the chaos
exponent of this model shows a discontinuous fall-off at the phase transition
temperature. Hence in this model the Hawking-Page like transition is correlated
with a transition in chaoticity, as expected from the relation between a black
hole geometry and the chaotic behavior in the dual field theory.

We study dynamical quantum phase transitions (DQPTs) in the quenched extended Su-Schrieffer-Heeger (SSH) model.
Anomalous DQPTs, where the number of critical momenta exceeds the winding number differences between the pre-quench and post-quench phases, are observed.
We categorize the phases in the equilibrium model into two classes and distinctive features in the time evolution of the entanglement involving quenches within and across the two classes are identified.

Recent work has shown that coupling two identical Sachdev-Ye-Kitaev (SYK) models can realize a phase of matter that is holographically dual to an eternal traversable wormhole.
Here we generalize these ideas to a pair of coupled SYK models with complex fermions that respect a global U(1) charge symmetry.
Such models show richer behavior than conventional SYK models with Majorana fermions and may be easier to realize experimentally.
