- Abstract: Diffraction in time manifests itself as the appearance of probability-density
fringes when a matter wave passes through an opaque screen with abrupt temporal
variations of transmission properties. Here we analytically describe the
phase-space structure of diffraction-in-time fringes for a class of smooth time
gratings. More precisely, we obtain an analytic expression for the Husimi
distribution representing the state of the system in the case of time gratings
comprising a succession of Lorentzian-like slits. In particular, for a
double-slit scenario, we derive a simple and intuitive expression that
accurately captures the position of interference fringes in phase space.

Analytic continuations of holographic entanglement entropy in which the boundary subregion extends along a timelike direction have brought a promise of a novel, time-centric probe of spacetime.
We propose that the bulk carriers of this holographic timelike entanglement entropy are boundary-anchored extremal surfaces probing analytic continuation of holographic spacetimes into complex coordinates.

We investigate quantum persistence by analyzing amplitude and phase fluctuations of the wave function governed by the time-dependent free-particle Schr"odinger equation.
In analogy with classical diffusion, the persistence probability is defined as the probability that the local (amplitude or phase) fluctuations have not changed sign up to time $t$.

We propose an experiment with a driven quantum gas coupled to a dissipative cavity that realizes a far-from-equilibrium phase transition between spatial and temporal order.
For negative detunings, the system features a spatially ordered phase, while positive detunings lead to a phase with both spatial order and persistent oscillations, which we call dissipative-temporal lattice.
In both the atoms are subject to an accelerated transport, either via a uniform acceleration or via abrupt transitions to higher momentum states.
