- Abstract: We present an ion trap with an integrated fiber cavity, designed for strong
coupling at the level of single ions and photons. The cavity is aligned to the
axis of a miniature linear Paul trap, enabling simultaneous coupling of
multiple ions to the cavity field. We simulate how charges on the fiber mirrors
affect the trap potential, and we test these predictions with an ion trapped in
the cavity. Furthermore, we measure micromotion and heating rates in the setup.

Cavity quantum electrodynamics (QED) uses a cavity to engineer the mode structure of the vacuum electromagnetic field.
Controllably decoupling a qubit from the cavity's photon population, effectively cloaking the qubit from the cavity.
Experiment demonstrates how qubit cloaking can be exploited to cancel ac-Stark shift and measurement-induced dephasing.

We show how to implant low-energy ions into silicon devices featuring an enlarged 60x60 $mu$m sensitive area.
Despite the weak internal electric field, near-unity charge collection efficiency is obtained from the entire sensitive area.
This can be explained by the critical role that the high-quality thermal gate oxide plays in the ion detection response.
