- Abstract: We study the effect of an ancillary system on the quantum speed limit time in
different non-Markovian environments. Through employing an ancillary system
coupled with the quantum system of interest via hopping interaction and
investigating the cases that both the quantum system and ancillary system
interact with their independent/common environment, and the case that only the
system of interest interacts with the environment, we find that the quantum
speed limit time will become shorter with enhancing the interaction between the
system and environment and show periodic oscillation phenomena along with the
hopping interaction between the quantum system and ancillary system increasing.
The results indicate that the hopping interaction with the ancillary system and
the structure of environment determine the degree of which the evolution of the
quantum system can be accelerated.

We add strong support to the relational concept of time by deriving the time-dependent Schroedinger equation for a system from an energy eigenstate of the global Hamiltonian consisting of system, environment and their interaction.
Our results are consistent with concepts for the emergence of time where interaction has been taken into account at the expense of a semiclassical treatment of the environment.

We study the time required to maximally entangle two principal systems interacting under the same energy constraints.
Direct interactions are proved to provide the fastest way to entangle the principal systems, but it turns out that there exist mediated dynamics that are just as fast.
The final message is that correlations save energy: one has to supply extra energy if maximal entanglement across the principal systems is to be obtained as fast as with an initially correlated mediator.
