- Title: Market Digitalization and Resilience in Crisis Times
- Authors: Guillermo J. Larios-Hernandez
- Abstract summary: This paper aims to explain the level of influence that contextual crisis factors may have played in organizational digitalization choices in search for resilience as part of adaptation strategies.
The selected country is of particular interest as research target in the Global South, in that public policy has offered little support to keep business organizations up and running, leaving entrepreneurs with no other option but to implement bottom-up resilience strategies, including digitalization.

- Abstract: Based on a conceptual framework that integrates three dimensions of digital
transformation (DT), namely, the nature of the product, client interaction, and
the level of coordination with industry players, this paper aims to explain the
level of influence that contextual crisis factors may have played in
organizational digitalization choices in search for resilience as part of
adaptation strategies. In particular, this investigation would analyze
digitalization choices as survival strategies for COVID-19 crisis in the case
of Mexican enterprises. The selected country is of particular interest as
research target in the Global South, in that public policy has offered little
support to keep business organizations up and running, leaving entrepreneurs
with no other option but to implement bottom-up resilience strategies,
including digitalization. Qualitative Comparative Analysis (QCA) has been
proposed to identify combinations of conditions to explain the role played by
COVID crisis-related contextual factors that may have led to particular forms
of digitalization. Semi-structured interviews with industry associations are
also proposed to gain knowledge about group responses to the crisis.

Risk seeking preferences for losses, driven by biases such as loss aversion, pose challenges and can result in severe negative consequences.
This research introduces the ABI approach, a novel solution designed to support organizational decision-makers by automatically identifying and explaining risk seeking preferences.

The impacts of mass migration, such as crisis induced by climate change, extend beyond environmental concerns.
These crises exacerbate certain elements like cultural barriers, and discrimination by amplifying the challenges faced by these affected communities.
This paper proposes an innovative approach to address migration crises through a combination of modeling and imbalance assessment tools.

This paper develops a catalog of such strategies and develops a framework for them.
It argues that they provide an efficient response to decision problems that are seemingly intractable due to high uncertainty.
It then proposes a framework to incorporate them into decision theory using multi-objective optimization.

Major cyber security incidents can represent a cyber crisis for an organisation, in particular because of the associated risk of reputational damage.
This research seeks to tackle this problem through a critical, multi-faceted investigation into the efficacy of crisis communication and public relations following a data breach.
It does so by drawing on academic literature, obtained through a systematic literature review, and real-world case studies.
The validity of this framework is demonstrated by its evaluation through interviews with senior industry professionals, as well as a critical assessment against relevant practice and research.
