- Abstract: We unveil an unexpected non-Hermitian phenomenon, dubbed edge burst, in
non-Hermitian quantum dynamics. Specifically, in a class of non-Hermitian
quantum walk in periodic lattices with open boundary condition, an
exceptionally large portion of loss occurs at the system boundary. The physical
origin of this edge burst is found to be an interplay between two unique
non-Hermitian phenomena: non-Hermitian skin effect and imaginary gap closing.
Furthermore, we establish a universal bulk-edge scaling relation underlying the
non-Hermitian edge burst. Our predictions are experimentally accessible in
various non-Hermitian systems including quantum-optical and cold-atom
platforms.

In the noninteracting case, quantized Thouless pumps can only occur when a topological singularity is encircled adiabatically.
In the presence of interactions, such topological transport can even persist for exotic paths in which the system gets arbitrarily close to the noninteracting singularity.

Skin Effect [0.0]
We derive the edge signatures of all two-dimensional phases with intrinsic point gap topology.
We find two broad classes of non-Hermitian edge states: (1) Infernal points, where a skin effect occurs only at a single edge momentum, while all other edge momenta are devoid of edge states.
Surprisingly, the latter class of systems allows for a finite, non-extensive number of edge states with a well defined dispersion along all generic edge terminations.

We show that there is a continuous phase transition induced by the non-hermiticity in QCP.
We observe that the order parameter and susceptibility display infinitely even for finite size system, since non-hermiticity endows universality many-body system with different singular behaviour from classical phase transition.
