- Title: Current biased gradiometric flux qubit in a circuit-QED architecture
- Abstract summary: We propose a scheme for controlling the gradiometric flux qubit (GFQ) by applying an ac bias current in a circuit-QED architecture.
The GFQ is insensitive to the magnetic flux fluctuations, which at the same time makes it challenging to manipulate the qubit states by an external magnetic field.

- Abstract: We propose a scheme for controlling the gradiometric flux qubit (GFQ) by
applying an ac bias current in a circuit-QED architecture. The GFQ is
insensitive to the magnetic flux fluctuations, which at the same time makes it
challenging to manipulate the qubit states by an external magnetic field. In
this study, we demonstrate that an ac bias current applied to the
$\alpha$-junction of the GFQ can control the qubit states. Further, the present
scheme is robust against the charge fluctuation as well as the magnetic flux
fluctuations, promising a long coherence time for quantum gate operations. We
introduce a circuit-QED architecture to perform the single and two-qubit
operations with a sufficiently strong coupling strength.

Single-qubit gates are in many quantum platforms applied using a linear drive resonant with the qubit transition frequency.
In this work, we derive and verify a correction to the drive pulses that minimizes the effect of these counter-rotating terms in a two-level system.
We experimentally implement these correction terms on a fluxonium superconducting qubit, which is an example of a strongly anharmonic, low-frequency qubit.

We provide a method for constructing verifier circuits for any quantum circuit that is accurately represented by a low-dimensional matrix product operator (MPO)
By transpiling the circuits to a 2D array of qubits, we estimate the crossover point where the verifier circuit is shallower than the circuit itself, and hence useful for quantum error mitigation (QEM)
We conclude that our approach may be useful for calibrating quantum sub-circuits to counter coherent noise but cannot correct for the incoherent noise present in current devices.
