- Abstract: The lack of information obtained from informationally-incomplete quantum measurements can prevent the detection of quantum resources, such as optical nonclassicality. We develop a technique that overcomes this limitation for single-mode quantum states conditionally prepared through measurements on another mode of a two-mode state. This task is performed by testing nonclassical steering -- a class of quantum correlations beyond quantum entanglement and quantum discord, for which we introduce a rigorous description.

We present an approach where the quantum computation is supplemented by a classical result.
Taking advantage of its anticipation also leads to a new type of quantum measurements, which we call anticipative.
In an anticipative quantum measurement the combination of the results from classical and quantum computations happens only in the end.

A core principle of quantum theory is that non-orthogonal quantum states cannot be perfectly distinguished with single-shot measurements.
Here we implement a quantum state elimination measurement which unambiguously rules out two of four pure, non-orthogonal quantum states.

In interferometry, quantum physics is used to enhance measurement precision.
An alternative approach is quantum metrology jump [L. A. Clark et al., Phys A 99, 022102] which deduces information by continuously monitoring an open quantum system.
It is shown that the proposed approach can exceed the standard quantum limit without the need for complex quantum states being scalable.

Non-unitary dynamical processes can take place on the system, for which common quantum channel descriptions fail to describe the time evolution.
Quantum measurements are correctly treated by means of so-called quantum instruments capturing both classical outputs and post-measurement quantum states.
