- Title: Capturing the Feshbach-induced Pairing Physics in the BEC-BCS Crossover
- Authors: Eloisa Cuestas, Jos\'e I. Robledo, and Ana P. Majtey
- Abstract summary: We reproduce the experimental closed-channel fraction $Z$ across the BEC-BCS crossover and into the BCS regime of a $6$Li atomic Fermi gas.
Our results are in agreement with recent measurements of the $Z$ dependency on $T_F$ on the BCS side, where a significant discrepancy between experiments and theory has been repeatedly reported.

- Abstract: By including the effect of a trap with characteristic energy given by the
Fermi temperature $T_F$ in a two-body two-channel model for Feshbach
resonances, we reproduce the experimental closed-channel fraction $Z$ across
the BEC-BCS crossover and into the BCS regime of a $^6$Li atomic Fermi gas. We
obtain the expected behavior $Z \propto \sqrt{T_F}$ at unitarity, together with
the recently measured proportionality constant. Our results are also in
agreement with recent measurements of the $Z$ dependency on $T_F$ on the BCS
side, where a significant discrepancy between experiments and theory has been
repeatedly reported.

We propose an interferometric method to probe pair correlations in a gas of spin-1/2 fermions.
The method consists of a Ramsey sequence where both spin states of the Fermi gas are set in a superposition of a state at rest and a state with a large recoil velocity.
The off-diagonal long-range order is directly reflected in the behavior of the interferometric signal for long interrogation times.

Trapped Fermionic Atoms in the BCS Regime [0.0]
In the BCS limit density profiles for unpolarized trapped fermionic clouds of atoms are largely featureless.
Temperature measurements have so far been mostly considered in an indirect way, where one sweeps isentropically from the BCS to the BEC limit.
We suggest here a direct thermometry, which relies on measuring the column density and comparing the obtained data with a Hartree-Bogoliubov mean-field theory combined with a local density approximation.

We argue that the division between quantum and classical behaviors is analogous to the division of thermodynamic phases.
