- Abstract: We explore a nonlinear extension to quantum theory giving rise to
deterministic partial disentanglement between pairs of particles. The extension
is based on a modified Schr\"{o}dinger equation having an added nonlinear term.
To avoid conflicts with the principles of causality and separability, it is
postulated that disentanglement is active only during the time when particles
interact. A butterfly-like effect is found near highly entangled multipartite
vector states.

Bell experiments have confirmed that quantum entanglement is an inseparable correlation but there is no faster-than-light influence when a local measurement is performed.
We show here that even though the inseparable correlation may be initially created by previous physical interaction between the two particles, the preservation and manifestation of such inseparable correlation are achieved through extremizing an information metric.

We study a recently proposed modified Schr"odinger equation having an added nonlinear term.
We find that the deterministic time evolution generated by the modified Schr"odinger equation mimics the process of wavefunctionity.
In the absence of entanglement, all predictions of standard quantum mechanics are unaffected by the added nonlinear term.

Hong-Ou-Mandel (HOM) effect can lead to a perfect suppression of two-particle coincidences between the output ports of a balanced beam splitter.
In this work, we demonstrate experimentally that the two-particle coincidence statistics of two bosons can instead be seamlessly tuned to substantial enhancement.
Our findings reveal a new approach to harnessing non-Hermitian settings for the manipulation of multi-particle quantum states.
