- Abstract: Both non-Hermitian systems and the behaviour of emitters coupled to
structured baths have been studied intensely in recent years. Here we study the
interplay of these paradigmatic settings. In a series of examples, we show that
a single quantum emitter coupled to a non-Hermitian bath displays a number of
unconventional behaviours, many without Hermitian counterpart. We first
consider a unidirectional hopping lattice whose complex dispersion forms a
loop. We identify peculiar bound states inside the loop as a manifestation of
the non-Hermitian skin effect. In the same setting, emitted photons may display
spatial amplification markedly distinct from free propagation, which can be
understood with the help of the generalized Brillouin zone. We then consider a
nearest-neighbor lattice with alternating loss. We find that the long-time
emitter decay always follows a power law, which is usually invisible for
Hermitian baths. Our work points toward a rich landscape of anomalous quantum
emitter dynamics induced by non-Hermitian baths.

We predict unconventional quantum optical behaviors of quantum emitters coupled to a non-Hermitian topological bath.
In addition to the Hermitian-like chiral bound states in the middle line gap and skin-mode-like hidden bound states inside the point gap, we identify peculiar in-gap chiral and extended photon-emitter dressed states.

In the noninteracting case, quantized Thouless pumps can only occur when a topological singularity is encircled adiabatically.
In the presence of interactions, such topological transport can even persist for exotic paths in which the system gets arbitrarily close to the noninteracting singularity.

How the property of quantum many-body system especially the phase transition will be affected by the non-hermiticity remains unclear.
We show that there is a continuous phase transition induced by the non-hermiticity in QCP.
We observe that the order parameter and susceptibility display infinitely even for finite size system, since non-hermiticity endows universality many-body system with different singular behaviour from classical phase transition.

Non-Hermiticity and dephasing realize unconventional entanglement evolution in a disordered quantum medium.
We first consider how wave packet spreads in a non-Hermitian disordered system for demonstraing that it is very different from the Hermitian case.
We then analyze how the entanglement entropy of the system evolves in the interacting non-Hermitian model.

We show that non-Hermitian phenomena can be naturally explained by a duality between non-Hermitian models in flat spaces and their counterparts, which could be Hermitian, in curved spaces.
Such a duality unfolds deep geometric roots of non-Hermitian phenomena, delivers an unprecedented routine connecting Hermitian and non-Hermitian physics, and gives rise to a theoretical perspective reformulating our understandings of curvatures and distance.
In practice, it provides experimentalists with a powerful two-fold application, using non-Hermiticity as a new protocol to engineer curvatures or implementing synthetic curved spaces to explore
